Responsibilities

  • Reception of new equipment
  • Initial setup of all hardware
  • Work with Facilities to obtain Floor and/or RAC Space
  • Install Rack and/or Server in Rack
  • Break fix repair of industry-standard enterprise level servers and storage equipment
  • Work with Facilities to obtain Power and backup Power
  • Work with facilities to connect power cables
  • Work with networking team to obtain Internet cabling and IP addresses
  • Work with networking teams to connect network cables
  • Work with with Linux and Unix Server   
  • Provide maintenance and support on legacy products
  • Perform weekly Preventive Maintenance Tasks
  • Replacing defective Server parts       

Qualifications

  • Must have experience with Initial server design and setup
  • Must have experience with Server maintenance
  • Must have working experience with Linux and Unix Server
  • Must have working experience Replacing defective Server parts       
  • Must have experience with Defragmentation
  • Must have experience with performing routine system maintenance tasks and able to plan and schedule  task
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend and stand for long periods of time 
  • Must have experience with electrical server systems
  • The ability to solve problems
  • Customer service skills & Analytical thinking
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • The ability to talk through server issues in a clear and concise way
  • Time management skills
  • The ability to work closely to a deadline
  • The ability to work independently on projects as well as part of a team

Education:

  • AA or two year  technical school  in  Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific/technical discipline and  3 years’ work experience
  • Four  (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (7 years total)

Clearance: 

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation 

Location:

  • Austin, TX. (100% On-site)
  • Monday - Friday  (12:00 PM - 8:30 PM CST Time)
  • Austin Information Technology Center
